WHAT IS KAMP HOLIDAY?
Kamp Holiday is a passionate initiative catered to meeting the relationship needs of Foster and Adopted youth.
Kamp Holiday is a separate initiative from our counseling practice but thought it beneficial for others to understand who we are and the purpose behind our initiative.
As counselors, we work with various populations, one being children and families involved in the system.
We specifically have designed this program to cater to the needs of children first and caregivers second.
We hope to foster community amongst the youth, and provide informed care to the caregivers and professionals serving our young people.
Kamp Holiday will also offer educational opportunities to caregivers surrounding mental health issues as it relates to raising BIPOC children.
Educational opportunities for 2024 will include: Meeting a Black Psychologist focusing on Psychological testing for our BIPOC individuals and how to navigate through it; BIPOC Mental Health Professionals focusing on various topics such as Anxiety, RAD, ADD, ADHD, Autism, etc.,
“DHS surveyed Foster children in Minnesota. Children identified grief and loss during the holiday season. They particularly identified a desire to foster their own community with one another. Their own experiences. They desired to share space with those who share in similar experiences. This initiative is for foster care youth, soon to be adopted, and adoptees through foster care.”
